SUSTAINABLE CROP
The coconut industry is sustainable because of several reasons. Firstly, the coconut is an excellent source of food to feed a growing world population. Secondly, because coconut trees take five to ten years to produce coconuts, they can provide income for communities without clearing any more land or remaining rainforests. Thirdly, as coconut trees are tall, other companion crops can be planted alongside the coconut trees to further increase food production.
